Waiting for the Manifestation of Christ

Dear Members in Christ,

“And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the highest will overshadow you; therefore, also that Holy One who is born will be called the Son of God.” Luke 1:35

Two thousand years ago Israel waited for the manifestation of Christ. The Bible mentions Anna, a prophetess, and Simeon who were patiently waiting for the Messiah. In faith these two devout children of God waited for the Christ. Anna and Simeon were not disappointed as they were rewarded by God for waiting. We will be rewarded by God if we exercise faith and wait patiently on God. God never rushes things, all things occur in the fullness of time.

Today Christ wants to be manifested in you through the power of the Holy Spirit. Allow Jesus to do His mighty works in you today. Don’t rush or try to rush God but wait patiently and let His Spirit use you. Pray today for the Spirit's revival in all our lives.

The True Expression of Our Faith

Dear Members in Christ,

“Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.”  ~  Hebrews 12:1, 2

Waiting on God is a major factor in the victories we have over sin. We have to be 100 percent dependent on Jesus in the areas of our life where we struggle. We cannot defeat Satan or overcome sin in our own strength. Jesus is the one who gives us the victories. There are habits in our life that we wish to eradicate immediately but we cannot do it by ourselves. We need Jesus and He accomplishes the task of fixing our weaknesses in His time. Waiting on God is a true expression of our faith in Him.

Today, surrender those things that are weighing you down and have faith that Jesus will help you and that you will have the victory over those things. As we continue our 40 days of prayer, pray for God’s will to be done in your life. Have faith and wait on the Lord!

Human Beings Were Created to Wait on God

Dear Members in Christ,

“Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one’s work will become clear; for the day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.”  ~  I Corinthians 3:12-15

Waiting on God is probably the hardest thing to do. Waiting is not natural to us humans. We were taught from childhood to be self-sufficient. In the western world we are goal-oriented and driven. We depend on no one but ourselves. With God it is the opposite. We are to depend on God for all things. This does not mean that effort is not involved. Dependence and waiting on God does not mean I don’t do anything. Once we know God’s will it will take effort and sacrifice to carry out the tasks He gives us.

To be dependent on God we need to spend time with Him every day. Christians must spend time in prayer and the study of God’s Holy Word in order to have a relationship based on faith in God. Do not go ahead of God, wait patiently on Him.

Waiting on God to Provide

Dear Members in Christ,

“And my God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in in glory by Christ Jesus.”  ~  Philippians 4:19

At the right moment the trees blossom, the fruits ripen and we have a great harvest. At the right moment the butterflies emerge from their cocoons. It seems that God allows everything to happen at the right moment; God’s timing is perfect and there is always waiting. It is hard for us Christians to wait. We are always in a rush, we want everything to be fast. We love fast food and we love our microwaves. We do not seem to have time to spare and because of the fast pace of life we are stressed and are plagued with diseases.

To truly have a relationship with God it is essential that we wait on Him. We have to become dependent on God. God has promised to provide for all our needs. If you want to experience the blessings of God you have to wait on Him, you have to allow Him to take care of you. As you continue our 40 days of prayer wait on the Lord.

Nature's Illustration

Dear Members in Christ,

“These all wait for You, that you may give them their food in due season. What you give them they gather in; You open Your hand, they are filled with food.”  ~  Psalm 104:27, 28

Jesus constantly used nature to illustrate the truths of God Word. We can learn lots of important lessons from nature. Have you ever noticed cupboards and drawers for storage in a bird’s nest? Isn’t it amazing that every day God provides food for the birds and all creatures. You and I are more important than birds. God loves us and He has promised in His word to supply all our needs. As you continue our 40 days of prayer for Revival and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, trust God and allow Him to take care of you.

The Amazing Experience of Revival: Pt 4

Dear Members in Christ,

“Behold I stand at the door and knock, if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with me.”  ~  Revelation 3:20

The early church was like none other, we see spirit-filled witnessing taking place. The members were more concerned about their neighbors and friends learning about the good news of salvation than they were concerned about materialistic things. The problem we are having is that we are clinging unto the world and the things of the world rather than clinging unto Jesus. If you are not willing to give up everything you have for Jesus you are not worthy of Him. I pray that when we are tested to see how much we love Jesus we all will pass with flying colors. Do not hold on to the things of this world instead let go and let Jesus sustain you every day.

The Amazing Experience of Revival: Pt 3

Dear Members in Christ,

“And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever, and the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.”  ~   John 14:16-18

I met a man who was dying and needed a liver transplant. He was fortunate and received a liver. The liver belonged to a very active young African-American woman. The transplant was very successful and this man who was never an outdoors person developed and interest in the outdoors and became very active. He became warm and very expressive in sharing love and affection to his family. The family was amazed because he lived a sedentary life. This gentleman explained that he had been given a new lease on life and that he was going to enjoy it to its fullest. He said that he felt as though someone else was living inside of him.

When we receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit we are given a new life in Christ, it is as if Jesus is living in us. My friends, brothers and sisters in Christ please allow Jesus to live in you. As we continue our 40 days of prayer open you heart to Jesus and give Satan an eviction notice.

The Amazing Experience of Revival: Pt 2

Dear Members in Christ,

“I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled.”  ~  Luke 12:49

Jesus was speaking about the fire of the Holy Spirit. We are in a Laodicean state. In this state we are very comfortable. We are desensitized to sin and sinful practices all around. We see little children in church doing wrong and we are unwilling to correct them. The Laodicean syndrome causes one to look the other and not call sin by its name. This is a very sad state in the eyes of God.

In such a world we need the Holy Spirit’s fire to ignite us for God’s Amazing Harvest. Before the harvest we need revival which will help us get ready for the outpouring of God’s Holy Spirit. Revival is about going back to the basics, the essentials of Christianity. We need to study God’s word earnestly. We need to pray. We need to fast. We need to share the gospel story and most importantly we need to be committed Christ. Without doing these things we will become stagnant and die spiritually. As you continue 40 days of pray, pray for revival and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

The Amazing Experience of Revival: Pt 1

Dear Members in Christ,

“So then because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of My mouth. Because you say, “I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing,” and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked.”  ~  Revelation 3:16, 17

The day of Pentecost in the book of Acts is of great importance to all Christians today. On the day of Pentecost a great revival took place in God’s church and the gospel spread rapidly throughout the known world. Today God wants to pour His Spirit out on His church, but we must have a right spirit. We need to seek God’s forgiveness and be united as His church. There is too much criticism and complaining among God’s people. We have to put aside our differences and in humility turn to God in prayer. Like the early church we to will experience the joy of revival.

Christ, Our Righteousness

Dear Members in Christ,

“Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”  ~  Hebrews 10:17

Have you ever done something terrible to a friend or loved one, and when they found out what you did their response to you was one of grace and love. Their attitude towards you was one of forgiveness and redemption. That is exactly how Jesus treats us when we come to Him with a broken and contrite heart.

Jesus’ forgiveness is complete once we seek His forgiveness. He forgets our sinful past and presents us before the Father just as if we had no sins. Christ not only pardons sins but He also delivers us from sins. As you continue our 40 days of prayer for Revival and the out-pouring of the Holy Spirit remember that Jesus delivers us from sin. May God richly bless you today and deliver you from Satan’s attacks.

Baptism of the Holy Spirit

Dear Members in Christ,

"Now when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all in one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat on each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”  ~  Acts 2:1-4

One of the amazing experiences God wants every Christian to have is the baptism of the Holy Spirit. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is being filled and led by the Spirit of God to do miraculous deeds for the kingdom of God as was on the day of Pentecost. The day of Pentecost was essential for the work needed to be done by the disciples. The work that Christians have ahead of them is very difficult and this work cannot be accomplished unless we receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Today ask God for the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Listen to God and follow His instructions implicitly as He speaks to you.

The Amazing Born Again Experience

Dear Members in Christ,

“But as many as receive Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”  ~  John 1:12, 13

This is the time of the year that I enjoy the most. I enjoy being in the garden and enjoying the wonderful lessons of nature. Each year I enjoy observing the butterflies as they lay their eggs in the garden. These eggs hatch and caterpillars are born. The caterpillars spin their cocoons and butterflies are born and they begin to fly.

Do you realize as humans we also go through an amazing birth experience. As babies our birth into the world is pretty incredible and miraculous. As we grow and become knowledgeable of God we go through an experience where something incredible happens. Our world changes and we go through a change which affects how we think, view others and life. This change occurs when we surrender to the will of God and allow the Holy Spirit to take control of our lives. We call this being born again.

As we continue our 40 days of prayer continue to pray for Revival and the out pouring of the Holy Spirit on your life.

Shine Your Light in the Darkness

Dear Members in Christ,

“Seek good, and not evil, that you may live; and so the Lord, the God of hosts, will be with you, as you say. Hate evil, love good, and establish justice in the courts. It may be that the Lord, the God of host, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph. But let justice roll on like rivers, and righteousness like a mighty stream.”  ~  Amos 5:14-15, 24

The tragic incident in Orlando tells us that we live in a very sinful world. There is evil in our world and Christians can no longer look the other way. The young man who destroyed so many lives was evil. The gay bar, where so many were partying and having a good time, was also a symbol of evil. The difference is that the gay bar although what it stands for spiritually causes destruction it did not take lives on Sunday morning. Sin is sin and we have to call it by its right name. I feel sorry for the pain and sorrow caused to the gay community in Orlando, not just for the tragedy, but for the sinful state that we all find ourselves in.

Please pray that the good news of salvation will reach every community and that Christians everywhere will be bold enough to stand for what is right and at the same time exemplify the love of Jesus. We can love and not condone sin. May God bless you today.

Humility

Dear Members in Christ,

“The result of humility and the fear of the Lord is wealth, honor and life.”  ~  Proverbs 22:4

Two cars came to a stop sign. Both failed to stop and as a result they had a collision. There were little to no damages to their cars. Both men began arguing with each other, which led to a fight. The police arrived on the scene and both men were arrested and thrown in jail for disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct and assault. On the day of the trial the district attorney played a video which was taken by the store near the scene of the accident. The video showed that they both were in the wrong. Before passing sentence the judge told the men that this could have been easily settled among themselves, but no one was willing to say I’m sorry. The judge said “you both lack humility and as a result you both are going to spent some time in jail."

Do we at times, because we lack humility, create more problems for ourselves rather than solving them? May God bless you today!

Soldiers for Christ

Dear Members in Christ,

“You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.  No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.”

As kids we would play soldiers and march around the yard of our local school.  It was quite a sight to behold.  Today as I was reading this scripture I thought that each one of us are soldiers, not in any man’s army, but in the army of God.  The reason why Satan hates you so much is due to the fact that you have the potential of recapturing his territory for God.

God has chosen you to be His soldier.  Commitment and servitude is important in God’s army.  We have one major task and that is to win the lost for Jesus.  Today, tell someone about Jesus.  In doing so you are being a good soldier. Those who are lost in sin are prisoners held captive by Satan.  Please help set one soul free today.

You can win the war.  Be kind to all you come in contact with and love as Jesus loves.

As you face the enemy put on the whole armor of God.

We Wrestle Not Against Flesh and Blood

Dear Members in Christ,

We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”  ~  Ephesians 6:12

Do you at times feel that conflicts and trial follow you?  Don’t be discouraged it's called “Spiritual Warfare”.  You are doing something right in your life and Satan is angry with you and is doing all in his power to hurt you.  Every faithful Bible character faced major trials and conflicts in their lives.  You have been chosen by God to be His ambassador in this world of sin.  The enemy is very angry with you.

To face your conflicts and trials you need to spend lots of time in prayer and the study of God’s word.  You need to stay close to Jesus.  Do not put down your guard, be sober and vigilant.  Your spiritual breakthrough is about to take place.  You have come too far to turn back, hold on a little while longer.

Jesus' Peace

Dear Members in Christ,

Yesterday afternoon I learned about the mass shooting in Orlando Florida. It has been described as the worst in US history. 50 lives were lost in this tragedy. My heart goes out to family and loved ones. These senseless killings remind me that this world is not our home.

Jesus reminds us in Matthew 24 that just before He comes back the world will be in an awful state; we are in this awful state. Today, please open your heart to Jesus and show His love in this world of hate and violence. Let others know that you serve a loving Savior.

As Christians we sorrow and weep with those who are experiencing grief and lost. In showing empathy and sympathy also show Jesus. Because in difficulties we have Jesus as our protector and anchor. Do not be shaken by these events, but look to Jesus.

“My peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”  ~  John 14:27

Be Careful What You Say

Dear Members in Christ,

A minister showed up one evening for dinner at Joe and Sue Brown’s home. As he was waiting in the living room the Brown’s 8 year old and 5 year old said to the minister “we are having goat for dinner.”  The minister had a puzzled look on his face because he thought that the family were vegetarian and he was a vegetarian himself.   The minister asked the children if they were sure that goat was being served for dinner and they replied, “yes.”   The children told the minister that earlier in the day they heard their parents say,  "we are having the old goat for dinner tonight.

Saints of God be careful what you say, especially around the children.

"But no human being can tame the tongue. It is restless and evil, full of deadly poison.”   James 3:8

Faith

Dear Members in Christ,

“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”  ~  Hebrews 11:1

I met a man a few weeks ago, he was very happy and praising God.  This man had some serious health problems.  He prayed and trusted God to heal him and today because of his faith he is enjoying the blessings of his healing.

Now please don’t take this the wrong way, God chooses who to heal and not heal.  It does not mean that you do not have faith because you were not healed.  Every case is different before our Creator.  We have to trust Him and have faith that God does what is best.  On resurrection morning we will all be healed.  So today, whatever you are experiencing have faith and trust that God knows best and that He will do what is best in your situation.  Have faith, dear friends, in God.

The Greatest is Love

Dear Members in Christ,

“Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”  ~  I Corinthians 13:6-7

As Christians we ought to evaluate ourselves to see if we have love in our hearts.  When last have you invited someone you do not care for that you worship together with to have lunch with you?  When last have you sat in church with someone you’ve had differences with.  Love has no conditions. Genuine Christians and genuine love is lack among the people of God.  We talk and use the word love, but we do things to hurt others.  You cannot be a Christian and be selective in showing love and consideration.  We love because Jesus loves us and in return we love all His children.

Today, ask yourselves, Do I have the love of God in my heart?  Friends, if you do, you will stop talking ill of others, if you have the love of God in your heart you will be more patient with your spouse, family, friends and those who easily irritate you.

Please talk to God today, seek His forgiveness and ask Him to help you to love.

A Heart of Love

Dear Members in Christ,

“Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins.”  ~  I Peter 4:8

Are you holding someone’s faults against them?  Sometimes the people who are closest to us do things to hurt us. The hurt is so deep that we are unable to let go and as a result we live with pain.  Today, I want you to turn your eyes and attention to Jesus.  He was hurt and wounded by people, but that never deterred Him.  Jesus had a forgiving spirit.  Remember the words of Peter, “love covers a multitude of sins,” and forgive.  It may be a friend, a spouse, a relative or a church member. Call that person after reading this devotion and forgive them and love them like Jesus.  You were created by God to love.

God has called you to be His special ambassador to a world that is sick and dying.  It is your love that will heal hearts and change lives.  May God bless you as you strive by His grace to love.

The Sustaining Power of God

Dear Members in Christ,

“Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.”  ~  Psalm 55:22  NKJV

A few Friday nights ago a woman came to church and she shared that earlier that day she found out she had colon cancer.  I have never felt more joy as I did that night as our members surrounded the woman and prayed for her healing.  I was very proud of our members.  The last I heard she was doing fine because God is sustaining her.

Whatever you might be going through today, rely on God to sustain you.  He is only a prayer away.  Call Him and tell Him all your troubles.  He may not take them all away, but He will sustain you as He deals with them for you.  May God bless you today.
