JOIN US on "OUR 30 DAYS FAST"

Our church is on a 30 Days Fast. This is not like the normal fast one thinks about. This fast is about not thinking or saying negative thoughts and not doing negative things. It's about STAYING POSITIVE and striving to live our lives as Jesus taught us. Please join as we fast. Watch and see what the Holy Spirit does in your life as you strive to be ‘positive’ like Jesus was during adversity. Check back each day for a daily encouragement thought from our Pastor.

Though we have completed this fast, we decided to post it for anyone who would like to attempt this on their own. The daily encouragement messages from our Pastor follow in reverse order:

Our 30 Days Fast Messages

Day 30 of Our 30 Days Fast

Dear Members in Christ,

When I was about 9 years old I went to play with friends my friends who lived about a mile away. We were having fun when it began to get dark outside and we were not aware of it. When our fun was over it was very dark outside and I was afraid of the dark. My friends walked me home. We played all the way and my fear of the dark went away because I had fun playing with friends in the dark of night.

We’ve been walking and having fun with our 30 day fast. It was very difficult for some and our journey together was good for us. I pray you do not return to the old way. God has begun a great work in you and He will see it to its completion. Let’s move forward in faith and trust Jesus. Today is the last day of this fast but we will continue to fix our minds on Christ. You have asked me to continue sending out daily devotions and, I’ve decided to continue sending out the devotions. Please pray for me as I pray for you.

This past Sabbath we launched a visitation program to reach out to our sick and shut-in members. The goal is to reach each member personally because that is what Jesus has called each of us to do. Peggy Peterson went to visit Ruth Cabadas and Lisa and Shenita went to visit Linda Coria. I am very pleased these individual went out of their comfort zone and reached out to the sick and shut -in. Kudos to you Peggy, Lisa and Shenita. God bless you!

“For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me… And the King will answer and say to them, “Assuredly, I say to you inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.”  ~  Matthew 25:35, 36 & 40 [NKJV]

Day 29 of Our 30 Days Fast

Dear Members in Christ,

We have one more opportunity to clear our minds of negative thinking. I want you to know that I fell off the wagon many times but God has been good. This fast has proven that God can do anything in our lives if we let Him. If you haven’t fully surrendered to the will of Almighty God there is still time to do so. As a church we are preparing to live with God in His new earth. Please talk to Jesus today about changes that are necessary in your life. I know each day the Holy Spirit is working in me to change many of the rough edges.

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.”  ~  Ezekiel 36:26

Today pray and ask God for His will to be done in your life. May His grace and the fellowship of His Spirit rest and abide with you always.

Angela and I are praying for you!

Day 28 of Our 30 Days Fast

Dear Members in Christ,

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."  ~  John 3:16

As you celebrate Sabbath think about God who was not only willing to spare His Son but gave Him as a ransom for you and me. This is the greatest thing God did for us. I am rejoicing today because it's Sabbath and most importantly because God loves me and He loves you.

Today think about all the wonderful things God has done in your life, thank Him and bless His holy name. Stop whatever you're doing and thank Jesus for saving you.

Angela and I are praying for you!

Day 27 of Our 30 Days Fast

Dear Members in Christ,

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.”  ~  Philippians 2:5

Jesus was humble, but never a push-over. Jesus loved the Word of God and people were important to Him. Jesus was not popular among the people of God. He was criticized and treated poorly, but that never deterred in showing God’s love.

We are Jesus’ ambassadors in this world. We should expect to be treated the way Jesus was. Today do what Jesus would do - reach out to someone. Show them the love of Jesus and win them to the Savior. Ask Jesus to impress your heart to pray for 5 members in Church you do not know well. After you pray for them reach out to them in church and get to know them better. Then next week do the same. Before you know it you will know your brothers and sisters in Christ the way Jesus wants you to know them.

Angela and I are praying for you!

Day 26 of Our 30 Days Fast

Dear Members in Christ,

This morning the clouds are rolling in and I guess we will be getting rain soon. The early part of this week was nice warm and sunny, it was nice to see the blue sky. Today it’s different, the dark clouds are rolling in and the weather will soon change. Do you realize that both the sunshine and the rain are important to the plants and the environment?

Blessings and trials that come our way are good for us. Today thank God not just for the blessings but for the trials as well. God is working to perfect our character, so trust Him and hold on to His hand and let Him lead you.

"The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want.”  ~  Psalm 23:1

Day 25 of Our 30 Days Fast

Dear Members in Christ,

“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for His sheep.”  ~  John 10:11

Jesus is the good Shepherd. Jesus loves us and Calvary is the evidence of that love. We are all sons and daughters of God, and it is essential that we project God's love in our lives. There are people around us who are hurting, they need our love. There are family members who need our love and we have to love them the way Jesus loves us.

God's love has no conditions. God's love is not selective; it is unconditional! We love because Jesus loves us. Jesus asked Peter if he loved Him and Peter’s response was you know I do. Jesus told Peter to feed His sheep. Jesus is asking us at Mountain View Central the same question. Do we love Him? If we do and I know we do; let us care for the needs of those around us. May God Bless you today…

Day 24 of Our 30 Days Fast

Dear Members in Christ,

Good Morning! I hope all is well with you and your family. Angela and I are back home after a wonderful time at Lake Tahoe. Today I am thinking about Horatio Spafford’s song, “It is well.”

This song is sorrowful considering that Spafford lost his children at sea and the inspiration for the song took place while he was looking at the spot where the ship carrying his children sank. The last stanza of the song is about home in Jesus and His coming. Today the coming of Jesus brings hope for those who are tired of this world and the effects of sin.

“My peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”  ~  John 14:27

Today whatever difficult situation you are facing, Jesus is able to give you peace in the midst of your storm.

Angela and I are praying for you!

Day 23 of Our 30 Days Fast

Dear Members in Christ,

Today is Monday, I pray you are enjoying this beautiful spring day. As you enjoy the sunshine remember the words of Malachi the prophet, "The Sun of Righteousness rises with healing in His wings.”  ~  Malachi 4:2

May the love of God and the fellowship of His spirit be with you today. Allow Jesus to bind and heal your wounds. We all have been injured by sin and we need the healing of Jesus.

Angela and I are praying for you!

Day 22 of Our 30 Days Fast

Dear Members in Christ,

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request be made known to God.”  Phil. 4:6

Do you sometimes feel that God is prone to answer someone else's prayer request on your behalf? I used to feel that way some time ago but I have come to understand God better. I realize that He wants to hear from each one of us. Today talk to Jesus as a friend. He wants to hear from you. You can tell Him the good, the bad and the ugly and He will not share it with anyone. So pray today like you’ve never done before. Have a heart to heart with Jesus, vent if you may and let Him know how you are feeling. May the Holy Spirit be near to you today and illuminate your life like never before.

Angela and I are praying for you!

Day 21 of Our 30 Days Fast

Dear Members in Christ,

Angela and I are in Lake Tahoe to celebrate her birthday. It’s beautiful here especially the snow-capped mountains and the lake. It is very cold outside and the drive up here was scary, but when you are with someone you love fear and discomfort seem to disappear.

"There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”  ~  I John 4:18

Jesus is the greatest love of our lives and being with Him makes the most uncomfortable and difficult situation seems like you are in Heaven. Today I would like you to experience the love of Jesus. It is not enough to say that Jesus loves us but experiencing His love is an awesome feeling.  If you have not experienced the love of Jesus in your life I would like you to pause for a moment and ask Jesus to make you feel and experience His love on this very special day. As Jesus fills your heart with His love, share that love with your spouse, children, family members and those around you.

Angela and I are praying for you!

Day 20 of Our 30 Days Fast

Dear Members in Christ,

I went to court for a parking ticket. To my surprise the judge began to defend, but I kept talking. He finally had to signal me that I was not helping myself. I finally shut up and allowed the judge to do what he knew best. It was very interesting because in the Old Testament the Judge is on the side of the defendant. On that day in the court room in NYC the judge, my defender, did a great job. I did not have to pay the ticket. The case took longer that it should because I would not be quiet and let the Judge defend me.

The Psalmist David tells us:

“Be still, and know that I am God, I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”  ~  Psalm 46:10

Today trust in Jesus and allow Him to defend you. He is very good at it. May God bless you today and may you be a blessing to someone else.

Angela and I are praying for you!

Day 19 of Our 30 Days Fast

Dear Members in Christ,

“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all.”  ~  Psalm 34:19 [NJKV]

Have you ever had a day that you thought would never end? From the moment you woke up till you go to bed it’s just one problem after another. Today I am thinking about Job, it seems that problems just keep piling on top of another. Job lost his children, his property and his health. God’s word tells us that in Job’s difficulties God was with Him and in the end God delivered him. Job’s trials brought him closer to God. He developed a stronger bond with God. Trials and trouble refine our characters.

Today smile at your trials because in the end God will deliver you.

Angela and I are praying for you!

Day 18 of Our 30 Days Fast

Dear Members in Christ,

I remember walking out of a building when I lived in Brooklyn, New York and seconds later there was a gun battle between rival gangs. The strangest thing that happened to me was while walking into a building where a KKK group was meeting. This was purely by accident. It was a week later when I told someone about going into this building and he informed me the building was the meeting place of the KKK. This elderly woman had asked me to take her home and I did. There was a building adjacent to her house with light on and the doors were open so after dropping her off around 10pm I walked in and said hello. Only one person answered and it was more like what can I do for you. I am more careful now, but it’s amazing what God does for us in our ignorance. He is truly our protector.

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear…”  ~  Psalm 46:1, 2

This is a passage I memorized for MV (Missionary Volunteers) about 42 years ago.  I encourage you to memorize Psalm 46, it will help you through many difficult times.  It is so assuring that wherever you are God is there too. Psalm 139 tell us that we can never go where God’s Spirit cannot reach us. I feel good that the Loving Jesus cares enough to watch over me. Today encourage someone who is lonely or having a hard time. Let them know that the Loving Jesus is watching over them.

Angela and I are praying for you!

For those who do not have time to look up the chapters, we are including them here:
1 To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. A Song for Alamoth.   God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed,  And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; 3 Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah 4 There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High. 5 God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn. 6 The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved; He uttered His voice, the earth melted. 7 The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah 8 Come, behold the works of the LORD, Who has made desolations in the earth. 9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariot in the fire. 10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! 11 The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah”  ~  Psalm 46 [NKJV]
============================
1 For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.   O LORD, You have searched me and known me. 2 You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. 3 You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways. 4 For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O LORD, You know it altogether. 5 You have hedged me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it. 7 Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? 8 If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. 9 If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, 10 Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me. 11 If I say, “Surely the darkness shall fall on me,” Even the night shall be light about me; 12 Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, But the night shines as the day; The darkness and the light are both alike to You. 13 For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. 14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. 15 My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them. 17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! 18 If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You. 19 Oh, that You would slay the wicked, O God! Depart from me, therefore, you bloodthirsty men. 20 For they speak against You wickedly; Your enemies take Your name in vain. 21 Do I not hate them, O LORD, who hate You? And do I not loathe those who rise up against You? 22 I hate them with perfect hatred; I count them my enemies. 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; 24 And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.”  ~  Psalm 139 [NKJV]

Day 17 of Our 30 Days Fast

Dear Members in Christ,

Do you get so tired at times that you just drop into bed and when you wake up it’s the next day? That happens to me from time to time and usually I do not pray before falling asleep and often feel horrible when I wake up. I'm sure this has happened to many of you; you fell asleep without praying. Let's always remember to talk to Jesus, our special friend. Today share the deepest secrets of your heart with Jesus. Make talking to Jesus your daily routine. I have been talking to Him about my fears and He reassures me through scriptures that He is watching over us.

“The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them.”  ~  Psalm 34:7 [NKJV]

Here in scripture Jesus watches over those who honor and love Him. There have been so many times in my life that I knew without any doubt that God was watching over me. Today He’ll be looking out for you, so whatever you do and wherever you go have confidence that God is with you.

Angela and I are praying for you always.

Day 16 of Our 30 Days Fast

Dear Members in Christ,

Yesterday I was observing while Jorge was working on the engine of a rototiller that just would not start properly. The problem seemed to be that the gas was not getting from the tank the engine. The rototiller had a full tank of gas but something was blocking the gas getting to the engine.

How often you we spend days and weeks without power or strength? Jesus is the source of our power and strength. We cannot spend a moment without being connected to Him. Today I invite to read John chapter 15.

“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”  ~  John 15:7

I pray that today you will have a closer walk with Jesus. We all have problems and weaknesses and Jesus understands our human condition. His invitation is to abide in Him. It’s easy, just pause for a moment wherever you are and ask Jesus to come into your heart and stay close to you not just for today but always.

Praying for you!

For those who do not have time to look up the chapter, we are including it here:
1 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 “Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 “You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. 6 “If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. 8 “By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. 9 “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. 10 “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. 11 “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. 12 “This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. 14 “You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. 15 “No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. 16 “You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. 17 “These things I command you, that you love one another. 18 “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. 19 “If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20 “Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. 21 “But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me. 22 “If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 “He who hates Me hates My Father also. 24 “If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father. 25 “But this happened that the word might be fulfilled which is written in their law, ‘They hated Me without a cause.’ 26 “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. 27 “And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning.”  ~  John 15 [NKJV]

Day 15 of Our 30 Days Fast

Dear Members in Christ,

Today I would like you to think about Jesus and the most wonderful thing He has done in your life. Now can you enjoy that experience for the rest of the week? It might be hard for some but having Jesus in your thoughts makes you feel good.

It is raining outside and I am enjoying the showers of blessing. I deliberately allowed the rain drops to fall on my face and it was so refreshing. The people of God are awaiting the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. I believe the Spirit of God is refreshing and revitalizing. Wherever you are in your spiritual walk you need the Holy Spirit. Let’s pray today and ask God in the name of Jesus to allow His Spirit to rain down on your life and the church. What a day that will be! I can’t wait for the moment when the church of God will be filled with His Spirit. Keep praying and trusting in the promises of God.

Pray For me as I pray for you!

PS [So sorry for the delay in posting, circumstances prevented earlier posting. We pray you had a wonderful day of blessings!]

Day 14 of Our 30 Days Fast

Dear Members in Christ,

Elisha was surrounded by the Aramean army, there seems to be no way of escape for Elisha. Elisha is calm and resolute in his faith. He is not afraid because he trusts the power of God. Elisha says, “Do not be afraid, for there are more with us than there are with them.”

Today! whatever you are facing all of Heaven is on your side.

My greatest fear has always been standing alone. At times I have to stand alone and in those moments God reminds me that all of Heaven is on my side. You are never alone when God is on your side. Whatever the problems or temptation know that Jesus is with you and that He is there to help you.

Happy Sabbath and Blessing from our Savior!

Day 13 of Our 30 Days Fast

Dear Members in Christ,

This week has been a beautiful spring week. At the beginning of the week it was hot and sunny. Now the weather is changing a bit we are expecting rain. This week is very typical of life, you have beautiful sunny days and then the storms roll in. I like spring for the beautiful fragrance and the green hills. It is the most beautiful time of the year for me. To have the beauty of spring we need sun and showers, hot days and stormy days. Enjoy spring and the beauty of God’s creation today. Focus on all things bright and beautiful.

Today as you face trials and temptations think on these words!

"My brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of any kind, consider it nothing but joy, because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance; and let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking in nothing.”  ~  James 1:2-4.

Blessings from the Father, Son and Holy Spirit,

Day 12 of Our 30 Days Fast

Dear Members in Christ,

Yesterday I was reading the last chapter of ‘Steps to Christ’ and I found a gem I would like to share with you.  I hope it blesses you as much as it blessed me.

“If we keep uppermost in our minds the unkind and unjust acts of others we shall find it impossible to love them as Christ loves us; but if our thoughts dwell upon the wondrous love and pity of Christ for us, the same spirit will flow out to others. We should love and respect one another, notwithstanding the faults and imperfections that we cannot help seeing.”  Steps to Christ p. 122

Today, pray like I do at times; “Lord take my thoughts make them Yours, transform my way of thinking today and let Your peace reside in me, Amen!”

May God richly bless you today as you continue our 30 day fast.

Blessings,

Pastor Fraser

Day 11 of Our 30 Days Fast

Dear Members in Christ,

This Sunday I was so moved by a very unselfish act by one of our members. Yesenia attended our meetings last fall and during the meetings her husband passed away. Yesenia did not miss the meetings even on the day of the funeral she came to the meetings. At the end of the meetings Yesenia and two of her children were baptized. In November the Board voted to give the family a monetary gift for the holiday. Yesenia accepted the gift in tears and told me that she wanted her children to share this gift with others. This past Sunday Yesenia had a birthday party for her children at the church and all the children in church were invited. It was not only a birthday party but also an appreciation party for the church. I was moved and touched because we are prone to think only about ourselves by society but here was a member thinking how can I show the church family that I deeply appreciate them.

Jesus is the greatest example we have. He was loving and kind. Jesus always put the needs of others before His very own. Today as we lay all our burdens at the feet of Jesus let us ask Him to change us into His image and likeness. As we continue this 30 days of desiring the beauty of Heaven may God take all negativity from you and fill your hearts with Joy and peace.

Blessings!

Day 10 of Our 30 Days Fast

Dear Members in Christ,

I’ve been reading II Kings 6, there are several amazing stories in this chapter. The one I would like to share with you today is about the impossible. The prophets met and were cutting logs to build a place for themselves. They borrowed an axe and while cutting a tree the axe head fell in the deep water.  The prophet Elisha placed a stick at the spot where the axe head fell and it floated to the surface. They reached out and grabbed the axe head.

Today you may need the impossible to occur in your life because what you are facing seems impossible to fix. I want you to know that the God who loves you is an expert at doing the impossible for those He loves. Our fast, as challenging as it may seem, is one of the best things that has happen to our church. I am happy and delighted by your wonderful responses. May God richly bless you today!

Day 9 of Our 30 Days Fast

Dear Members in Christ,

I am tired and a bit stressed this morning, but I am praising God for His goodness and love for me. I am grateful and thankful to God that He has altered my way of thinking and has caused me to focus on the positive things in life. I find joy, peace and fulfillment by concentrating on things that God will approve. This week I would like you to do something; purchase at least one helium balloon with a string from Safeway or a party store. Write all your negative thoughts and the names of the people who hurt or are hurting you on a piece of paper, attach the paper to the string and release the balloon towards the heavens. This is a symbolic way of giving it to God.

Let this day be a day of releasing all the negatives that Satan has stored up in you. Give them all to Jesus and in return He will give you peace and joy. I am happy that you are fasting. Through the power of God, let’s create peace and harmony within ourselves and it will spread like wildfire in our church and community.

May the peace of God be with you today!

Day 8 of Our 30 Days Fast

Dear Members in Christ,

I am writing this at 3 am because my mind has been on each of you. We are called by God to be His very special people. We are special not because we are worthy but because we are loved by God. Our church is at a crossroad spirituality, God wants to take us to a different phase in our spiritual experience. I know we have been bombarded by the enemy this past week. Please stay committed to this fast. You are about to have a spiritual breakthrough like none other you have seen. You are going to see many miracles in your life and in the church if we stay committed to this fast. It can be discouraging at times but you are not alone. We are all in this together and we will make it together if we do not give up but persevere in faith.

Zechariah 2:8 says, “After a period of glory, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies sent me against the nations who plundered you. For He said, “Anyone who harms you harms My most precious possession.” (NLT)

We are God’s most precious possession. Keep fighting the good fight of faith. Sometimes I feel like quitting, in those moments God reminds me of His love for me. He reminds me that Jesus never quit. We may have a bad day or a bad week but Jesus is always there cheering us on. Don't give up, ignore the devil’s tricks and focus on Jesus’ love for you.

Blessings from the Father, Son and Holy Spirit,

Pastor Fraser

Day 7 of Our 30 Days Fast

Dear Members in Christ,

We’ve been looking at Philippians 4:8 as we focus on positive thinking. I have a scar on my finger which was caused by my negative thoughts. I came from church one evening and because I was very upset by what someone said I accidentally cut my finger while cutting onions. My mind was so focused on negativity and I hurt myself because I was not paying attention to what I was doing.

Have you ever been so focused on negative things that as a result you hurt yourself physically? It happens all the time. When you focus on those who do evil and those who wrong you all you are doing is hurting yourself. Giving the devil control over your thoughts becomes a spiritual handicap. Your enemy (Satan) desires to control how you think. Today God wants you to be free! We cannot be free if we are carrying baggage. We cannot be close to God if our minds and hearts are full of negative things. As we celebrate Sabbath, let our thoughts be on things that are sacred and good.

With Blessings,

Day 6 of Our 30 Days Fast

Dear Members in Christ,

Today I am thinking about you! You are the most beautiful of all God’s creation. David said, “I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works, that I know very well.”  ~  Psalm 139:14

It is often easy to think good thoughts about everything and everyone except ourselves. As a teenager I lacked self-esteem and confidence. I was a good student, but we were poor and had to make do with very little. Not having wealth made me feel terrible about myself because I had to share clothes and shoes with older siblings. One day my grandma who loved to quote scriptures, reminded me that God made me special. She explained that the things I had and wore did not define who I am.  She told me I was just as good as anyone else regardless of what I have or did not have. Have you felt bad about yourself because you’re different; you don’t look like everyone else, you don’t have the financial means? Please remember the words of David, “You are fearfully and wonderfully made.”

Today let your thoughts be lovely. I am praising God right now for each of you as I write this daily thought. Jesus did not die for a plant, bird or animal. He died for you. On Calvary’s cross you were on His mind. Jesus’ life paid the ransom for us. Jesus is preparing mansions for us. Jesus is coming back for us. You are special to God! You are the apple of His eye! Don’t ever forget that.

Blessings!

Day 5 of Our 30 Days Fast

Dear Members in Christ,

This has been the hardest and most difficult week by far. I’ve had more challenges than ever before. I was sitting in my office and a situation came up which was very hurtful and evil, my thoughts began to stray on things that were not pure and at that moment a homeless young woman walk through the office with many bags on her shoulders. She wanted something to eat or drink; specifically she was asking for lemonade. All I had in the office was bottled water. I offered her a bottle she reluctantly accepted the bottle of water; to make myself feel better I offered her a second bottle and prayed with her.

It was at that time God spoke, “you wrote do something nice for someone else well here is an opportunity, you prayed, but she is still hungry." I listened to His still small voice and asked the young woman to wait while I went to the store and get her something. She asked for lemonade and a tuna sandwich. When I returned she was very happy and thankful.

Jesus said, “In as much as you have done it unto the least of these you have done it unto me.” In doing this one act of kindness my mind was focused on God. The problem is still there but God's yoke is easy and His burdens are light. Jesus promised never to leave us alone. Attach yourself to Him today and allow God to control your thoughts so that what you think is holy and pure.

Think pure thoughts today and ask Jesus to help you to focus on Him and His ways of righteousness.

Blessings!

Day 4 of Our 30 Days Fast

Dear Members in Christ,

This morning I’ve been thinking about Philippians 4:8. Yesterday was a hard day; my mind was on negative thoughts and I struggled to get my mind on positive things. I am okay… I made it by God’s grace! Our 30 Day Fast is proving to be very difficult, but we must stay the course, for the enemy wants us to give up when we stumble and fall.

Paul says, “...whatsoever things are just". Please focus on the justice of God. He sees all things, He knows all things and most importantly He is on our side. God’s plan for your life and mine is redemption. He wants to present us faultless before the universe. We are anything but faultless but thank God for Jesus who paid the price for my sins and yours’. God’s justice had to be satisfied and Jesus (God) paid the price with His life. Jesus suffered and died in our place. With Jesus’ death and triumphant resurrection we are free from the yoke and burden of sin.

Satan will tempt and remind you today of how unworthy you are. Remember, Jesus paid the price levied by Satan and justice was satisfied! Jesus set you free. Today don’t let Satan shackle you with burdens, strife and sin because you are free in Jesus. May God bless you as I am praying for each of you!

Blessings!

Day 3 of Our 30 Days Fast

Dear Members in Christ,

Today I would like you to focus on things that are noble (Phi.4:8). When I think of the word noble I think of personal qualities that people admire such as honesty, generosity, and courage.

When I was twelve years old in Grenada I attended a function in the national stadium. A girl around my age or a little younger came up to me and asked me to sit next to her because she was alone and was scared of the large crowd in the stadium. I had the best seat about 20 feet from where the Prime Minister would be speaking. I really did not want to sit with this little girl, in my pre-teens years girls were disgusting and no fun, I’m sure they thought the same way about boys. I was afraid my friends would see me sitting with this little girl and I really did not want to move, but I remember what my grandmother always said, "be kind to everyone." So I move from the best spot in the stadium to sit with this girl, about 10 minutes later I heard a huge explosion and I looked towards where I was sitting. I saw people and seats flying through the air. A bomb had been planted by terrorist where I was sitting. I was thankful to God that I had moved and sat with the girl. She held my hands and we both ran through the crowds and exited the stadium. I have always been thankful to God that I resisted my human inclination and sat with the girl. I was very happy I went outside my comfort zone and sat with the girl. I never saw her after that day. She saved my life.

Today, do not resist the Spirit. Go outside your comfort zone and do something noble. Let the Spirit of God lead you in doing for others what you not normally do. Say a kind word to a co-worker or a stranger today. Demonstrate the noble character of Jesus.

Day 1 of Our 30 Days Fast

Dear Members,

Angela and I are praying for you all as you embark on this 30 days of fasting. Our fast is about stopping all negative thoughts and speaking for 30 days. I want to encourage you to think about Jesus and his love for us. The enemy will do everything to make you think and speak ill of others this week, focus on these word:

"Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." ~ Philippians 4:8

May God richly bless and strengthen you!
